Public Art Trail

From commissioned murals peeking out from laneways, to impressive sculptures, Newmarket is home to an array of street art from local and international artists. Reuben Paterson’s Ándale Ándale is an iconic Newmarket artwork on Remuera Road, created using large sheets of colourful aluminium. Seung Yul Oh’s KnockKnock eggs have become a part of the fabric of Teed Street, adding life and vibrancy to the area, plus a number of other stunning sculptures adorn the streetscape.

Places of Interest

Newmarket has a number of popular tourist attractions, including Highwic House, The Olympic Pools and Auckland Museum. Rich in history, Highwic House remains as Newmarket’s (and one of Auckland’s) oldest heritage buildings, a 19th century Gothic House that was built in 1862 and is open for tours, events and functions. Just a short walk away you’ll find the Auckland Domain and Museum, one of New Zealand’s most well-known museums and war memorials.
